Dr. Behara Satyanarayana (born on 18 August 1972) obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Marine Biological Laboratory, Andhra University, India (March 2005) for the research work on “Ecobiology and Remote Sensing based study of Coringa mangroves in the Godavari Delta, East coast of India”. He started his career with the aid of European Commission (EC) and the Department of Ocean Development (DOD, India) projects on Coringa for more than 7 years (1994-2002). Later he was nominated for the Senior Scholar Fellowship (2002-2003) under “Indo-China Cultural Exchange Program” by the Govt. of India, and worked for Nanjing University, China. Subsequently, he joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a Post-Doctoral Researcher (2004–2006) at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology. Together with mangrove ecosystem/assessment studies, his professional experience also includes coastal and offshore productivity in the Asian waters using satellite remote sensing. At every step, the works furnished by Dr. Satya continues to recognize through several scientific awards and scholarships with a number of publications in the peer-reviewed journals. He also paid visits to Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium) and University of Ruhuna (Sri Lanka) as a Visiting Scholar to accomplish several research assignments. At present, he is working as Lecturer/Research Fellow at the Institute of Oceanography (INOS), University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Malaysia (July 2006 - present).
